Happy Cinco de Gayo

Heavily inspired by Dorothy Snarker's post today, I thought I'd also celebrate Cinco de Gayo with a kiss...

Enjoy,

Coming out… with an album and a memoir!

Well, isn’t this just plain irritating… I don’t even know who this Chely Wright is, and she’s the “celebrity” coming out on Cinco de Mayo. I guess the cat’s out of the bag [pun intended], so we’re already getting the scoop now.

The one good thing is that YAY, IT’S A GIRL!!! Other than that – and pardon my French – but who the fuck are you again? Now, usually, I’m not really pissy about people coming out, and I can definitely see the good in this one as well and have heard following examples:
1) Nobody really saw it coming
2) She’s pretty hot and could be a great poster child for coming out gay later on
3) She’s one of the first country stars to do this

And this is where I start to feel pissy, because if it’s so important for you to come out, then why the hell can’t you do it without having an album and a book to promote? I guess helping out the young LGBTQ people in the true blue Country-lovin’ states wasn’t so very damn important to you, when you had nothing to gain. And again, who the fuck are you? Oh, I know, I just need to buy your album and memoirs to find out. Right?!

If you do this at the height of your career (hat tip @ Ellen DeGeneres and Neil Patrick Harris, who have both gotten even bigger careers after coming out) or when you have nothing to gain financially from it right now (Ricky Martin), then I will worship the ground you walk on, but this is just plain business. I mean, right now this just seems like the best way for Chely Wright to get more publicity than money can buy.

I suggest you start by giving back to your community right now. I’m sure the Human Rights Campaign or ANY other LGBT friendly cause would gladly accept your donations. Do that and I’ll believe you weren’t just in it for the money. Otherwise, why didn’t you come out sooner? I really wish you had and I didn’t feel robbed like this.

Despite everything... Congratulations on coming out, I really do wish you all the best.

Welcome to the family, you already fit right in

John Stamos?

I don't really know if I believe this, but a few nights ago Wifey dreamt that John Stamos was 'The Gay' that'll come out on May 5th. Like I said, I'm not so sure about this one, but just in case it turns out to be right, I figured I'd put it out there.

And afterall, he was once married to the very lovely and yummy (that's right, I said it) Rebecca Romijn, who's had many LGBT roles over the years. From transexual in 'Ugly Betty' to lady loving in 'Femme fatale' (can we please just forget Antonio Bandaras) and just over all super gay allegory known as 'X-MEN'. And now that I mentioned 'Femme Fatale', let me remind you just how much she was loving - and feeling - up one particular lady in that movie. It's also the only reason to watch the film, but you might as well stop when Antonio enters... unless you'd like to watch Rebeca do a little dancing in her underwear. Enjoy!

Also, in my "I think this is VERY likely"-category, I would just like to point out that Queen Latifah will be part of the Lilith Fair tour this summer. I can't imagine a better gig after having just come out as a proud lesbian. I'm just sayin'...

Who is The Gay?

You may or may not have heard that another celebrity is coming out on May 5th. Oh yes, this year's Cinco de Mayo will be as gay as ever, but this time around it won't be because Ellen shows up on my TV wherever I am.

Anyway, just like everybody else, I've been wondering about who this new gay could be. And so, I have compiled a list of my top guesses. Okay okay, some of them might be wishful thinking, but still. Oh, and to be clear, by "wishful thinking" I don't necessarily mean they can't be gay, but just that they probably won't come out. Not this time around anyway.

By the way, I really hope it's going to come out a girl, but I have a sneaky suspicion it's going to be a boy. Eh, what can you do?! Let's get to it, shall we?

In the girls' corner we might see:

1. Queen Latifah - You know you want to... and we promise to treat you like royalty.

2. Michelle Rodriguez - You will never convince anyone that you're straight, and you've realized this and taken the bisexual road (yes, she might be bi, but you only ever see her with girls).

3. Kristen Stewart - Yes, I'm surprised I could wait until the third nominee, but here she is (oh, and there she is channeling our very own Shane of The L Word at Coachella recently, which AE called "More queer every year")

4. Jodie Foster - Hey, it could happen... and it's high time!

5. Nikki Reed - She's already pretty open, so I doubt she'd feel the need to do this whole official thing, but then again, it's the best way to get your own version out.

6. Dianna Agron and/or Lea Michele - Already in the gayest show around and very chummy with each other.

And if turns out to be one from the boys' side, then this is my shortlist:
1. Jake Gyllenhaal
2. Ryan Seacrest
3. Zachery Quinto
4. Wentworth Miller
5. Kevin Spacey

Of course, there is also the chance, that it's someone we've never even remotely considered, and then I'll really be chocked... and yet so very delighted as well.

On vacations with Ellen

Sometimes these things happen, where you can't help but think that there is some greater force tying everything together. For me, this moment of enlightenment always come when I'm travelling, and somehow I always stumble across Ellen's talkshow... And I mean WHEREEVER I am. Obviously, it's no surprise that Ellen is on, when I'm in New York, but in the Middle East or Africa... i.e. Egypt?!

Now, the fact that her show was on isn't in itself that mindblowing amazing - Rachel Ray, Dr. Phil and Oprah were also on, so it's not like Ellen RULED the TV screens of Egypt. However, what IS amazing is the fact that whenever we're travelling and come across an episode of Ellen's talkshow, it's always one where's she's celebrating Cinco de Mayo! I mean, come on... I travel to New York in May and catch a show on the day of Cinco de Mayo: No surprise. But Ellen on TV in a Muslim country in September and again: It's Cinco de Mayo... AND on top of that, it's one I haven't seen before.

Uh huh, I'm really starting to believe that Ellen DeGeneres is the fabric that ties the world together. . .
Scratch that! She even talks with animals... Now I KNOW she is! ;o)
