Callie Torres is my Spirit Animal

Sara Ramirez is taking a break from Grey's Anatomy, which means no more Callie Torres, so I'm not a happy camper!

Sara Ramirez leaving Grey's Anatomy
Yep, pretty much...

Basically, Callie Torres is my Spirit Animal and Sara Ramirez is just an overall amazing human being, so I'm really not happy that she's taking a break from Grey's Anatomy. Not only because this means no hope for a Calzona reunion anytime soon, but because I'll miss Callie.

Sara Ramirez goodbye
The official message from Sara Ramirez' own social media accounts
Officially, it's being called "taking time off", so she's not completely leaving the show for good. And I'm very happy that this is clearly her own choice. But who knows how things will play out with both the show and her own wishes for the future. With no real goodbye or any kind of chance to prepare for this, I've just been sad about it.

My wife actually saw the news first - amazingly enough since I always tend to be with one, who gets the spoilers - and even noted to me later that it clearly took me a few hours to process this information. Now, I feel like I've gone through all the five stages of grief...

 The 1st stage: Denial

The 2nd stage: Anger

The 3rd stage: Bargaining

The 4th stage: Depression

The 5th stage: Acceptance

Ahh, who am I kidding... Truth is, I'm still in complete denial and haven't watched the last episode of Grey's Anatomy because it also marks the last episode with Callie Torres and Sara Ramirez...

Yep, that's my way of keeping control: You say I only have one episode left? Well, then I won't watch it till I'm ready. So yeah, I get to decide when it's the last episode for me.

Much love - especially to Sara Ramirez for all she's given us both on screen and off - but not too many smiles right now,

P.S. This is the latest message from Sara via social media, so maybe we'll have the chance to see her in something else soon. I'm certainly ready to go to New York and watch her on Broadway! Just sayin'...

Friday I'm in Love

Oh yes, it's that time of the week again and I'm still stuck on shipping.

However, sometimes - more often than not these days... or years, really - I find myself quoting 'Brokeback Mountain' and thinking "I wish I knew how to quit you" when it comes to my dear Callie Torres and Arizona Robbins shipping heart.

But then something will come along that gets my Calzona dreams going again.

This time around it's an awesome fan-made video set to a beautiful Adele song.

This makes me a Calzona believer all over again.

With love of Friday,

Friday I'm in Love

Welcome to this week's edition of Friday I'm in Love... with these ships!

But in order to keep myself in line, I've decided to focus on the three C's that are Calzona, Clexa and Cophine.

Calzona
Ah yes, it used to be amazing heartbreaks and sweet moment and coming together again for Callie Torres and Arizona Robbins, but these past years it's been pretty much down hill.

Ah yes, the good ol' days
Grey's Anatomy creator, Shonda Rhimes, used to say the were MFEO [Made For Each Other], but she pretty much seems to have forgotten all about that.

And really, where is Sofia? Their daughter, who mysteriously never needs either of her moms since they're both working, dating and/or over-coming yet another tragedy at the same time.

But when they were good, they were good.

Clexa
Fairly new ship from The 100 (not the one-hundred. just 'the hundred', which still really irks me!), where Clarke Griffin and Commander Lexa have become increasingly close.

Yup, that's pretty close

And so it became canon

But this is a ship that the creator, Jason Rothenberg, ships at least as much as the fans, and so far he's using the show's third season to make Clexa fanfiction come true.

Cophine
There's no doubt that the immediate online fanbase was a huge part of the Orphan Black success. And while the success on sites like Tumblr was absolutely due to Tatiana Maslany's amazing ability to portray 80% of the characters in the cast, it quickly became obvious that especially one of the characters she played (science geek, Cosima Niehaus) was getting a lot of attention because of her relationship with another character, (follow science geek puppy, Delphine Cormier) and together they became Cophine.

Now, as we prepare for the fourth season of Orphan Black there's been an almost alarming lack of publicity for the show - especially compared to last year, when Twitter and Tumblr were fed clips and images to build up a frenzy.

Personally, I'm convinced it's simply because they don't want to reveal too much of how Delphine will be part of the story. Season three ended on a cliffhanger, but I have hope for the puppy turned wolf.

I better see you two lovebirds soon!

So, who are you shipping? And what's your favorite ship?

FINALLY, I understand now!

I've been trying to figure out why I love the Callie/Erica storyline and relationship on Grey's Anatomy so much, and now I know. Malinda Lo's column at AfterEllen.com just managed to explain it perfectly. Also, her column made me realize how much their story reminds me of how I met my Wifey.

We're always gushing about how happy we are that things went so slow. I mean, people knew we should be together for quite a while before we realized it. We quickly became best friends and were really scared of losing the friendship if things didn't work out - quite a silly fear as things have turned out. But still, everything was savoured and we can laugh at how innocent we were in the beginning... but it was perfect.

Thank you, Malinda... I think I'm gonna feel all warm and tingly inside for a while after reading your column. :o)
